As part of the exhibition Space and Photography<\/em>, Birgit Graschopf exposed the wall panel in the auditorium and developed it performatively in front of an audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resulting image shows a central-perspective view from inside to outside. Taken within the museum itself, the work engages with the spaces and sightlines of the building\u2019s rigorously clear, ornament-free architecture, with its tall glazed stairwells and concrete walls. The photographic perspective creates the illusion of the exposed wall breaking open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this purpose, the auditorium was temporarily converted into a darkroom, which visitors entered under red light. Through the development process using photographic chemicals, the initially blank surface gradually transformed into an image within a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
